This piece has had a repair done to it at some point in its history, which is not noticeable at all when it's worn. It's quite probable that it was done during the original making of the piece: the individually cast elements were often difficult to remove from their molds and frequently broke in the process. In any event, it's an expert repair and the piece is completely sound, and with a secure catch.
