Elis Kauppi’s designs were in large part responsible for the surge in international popularity of Finnish jewellery beginning in the late fifties. This large cocktail ring embodies his great skill in blending clean, streamlined shapes of Modernism with a nod to the traditional naturalistic forms of Finnish design. The textural surface of the encompassing gold setting provides a nice contrast to the sleek surfaces of the stone and band. It is a ring of great presence.
