Hans Gehrig emigrated from Europe to Canada after the war and settled in Montreal, where he worked in the atelier headed by one of Montreal's top jewellers, Gabriel Lucas, with other Canadian jewellery luminaries such as Georges Delrue and Walter Schluep, with whom Gehrig formed a brief partnership and collaborated on some pieces.
