Canada’s Guy Vidal (b 1938) created a vast body of work in the 1960s and 1970s. Largely brutalist in style, many of his forms and textures are drawn from nature. This is a kinetic piece, with large, hollowed discs evocative of ancient bones or rock craters. The exterior surface is a smooth, reflective silver while the interior is striated and dark, and the hinged sections make it a comfortable wear. It is a striking piece of wearable sculpture.
